S.Amanzholov EKSU hosted an International conference dedicated to the 70th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War. It was attended by scientists from France, Russia, Uzbekistan, and Kazakhstan.
Within the frames of the conference, a round table "Actual problems of the modern history: research methodology and modern interpretation" with the participation of historians, archivists from Astana, Almaty, Kostanay, Semey, Zyryanovsk and Ust-Kamenogorsk was arranged.
By the beginning of the conference, conference materials, collections of letters of the war years "I am writing to you from the war" (Compiled by Zhanbosinova A.S., Riffel L.P. - Ust-Kamenogorsk: "Berel" publishing house of S.Amanzholov EKSU, 2015 - 154 p., ISBN 978-9965-875-65-6) and "Vital voices of the winners of the war of 1941-1945" (Compiled by Zhanbosinova A.S., Riffel L.P. - Ust-Kamenogorsk: "Berel" publishing house of S.Amanzholov EKSU, 2015 – 194 p., ISBN 978-9965-875-66-3) were published.
At the closing session of the round table, the conference resolution was adopted.
The International scientific conference "Social and cultural practices of Eurasia in the imperial space" 28-29 July 2014
On 28-29 July 2014, Research Center Altaytanu of S.Amanzholov East-Kazakhstan State University held the International scientific conference of the theme: "Social and cultural practices of Eurasia in the imperial space."
Conference venue - sanatorium 'Nurbulak" (LPP "Ekі Dos"), located in Katon-karagay District of the East-Kazakhstan region.
The conference is a scheduled event within the state budget theme № 310/2014 on "Southwest Altai in the second half of XVIII – 60s of the XIX centuries: ethno-social and socio-cultural aspects in the context of the colonization of the region". Project Supervisor - Smagulova Anar Murzagalievna, Researcher of the Research Center Altaytanu, S.Amanzholov EKSU.
International Conference took participants from 7 countries: Mongolia, Russia, China, South Korea, Kyrgyzstan, Japan. Local participants came from leading universities of Astana, Almaty and Ust-Kamenogorsk.
The conference opened with the Fair of Kazakh national souvenirs from Mongolia and China. Lina Akankyzy (Buyrshyn, China) and Kundyz Bekbolatkyzy (Bayan Ulgi, Mongolia) brought their collections.
After welcoming foreign guests by the conference participants, the premiere of the new documentary "Altai: Keys to history" took place. Participants appreciated the film, its scientific content, questions that encourage new topics for research into the history, culture and collective memory of the peoples of Altai. The filmmakers were recommended to make another documentary based on field studies of culture and collective memory of the Kazakhs living on the territory of Kosh-Agach (Russia) and western Mongolia. The documentary "Altai: Keys to history", filmed by the scientists of Sarsen Amanzholov EKSU tells about the results of field expeditions of 2013 in China, and the mountainous regions of East Kazakhstan.
In making the film, the supervisor of the state budget theme - Anar Smagulova – participated as scriptwriter; Boris Vykhodtsev (Ust-Kamenogorsk) as director and cameraman, Ghali Myrzashev (Kazahmultfilm, Almaty) as artist.
The film is dedicated to the methodology and methods of studying the collective memory of the peoples, everyday cultural practices, reproduction and transmission of knowledge and traditions, material life.
The conference became the academic platform, bringing together scientists from different fields - ethnography, history, linguistics, demography, political science, cultural anthropology, museology.
The main issues for discussion of the conference was the problem of colonization in historical, social and cultural practices in Eurasia, museums as memorial practices, Altai in the categories of space and time.
During the conference, a tour of foreign guests and media representatives to Berel burial mounds took place, and the guide was provided by Katonkaragay National Park. In the tour, the guests got acquainted with the ancient tombs of the necropolis Berel, where the representatives of Saka elite were buried 2.5 thousand years ago.
At the closing session, the scientists noted the importance of such inter-branch international conferences on the results of field studies using the interdisciplinary approach and new trends in methodology and practice.
