Chief researcher of the Branch of A.H. Margulan Institute of Archaeology of KH of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan in Astana, the adviser on scientific and organizational activities, Doctor of Historical Sciences, corresponding member of the German Archaeological Institute.
He graduated the Faculty of History of Ust-Kamenogorsk Pedagogical Institute (1970). Teacher: F.H. Arslanova.
PhD thesis: "Rock Art of the Upper Irtysh".
Doctoral dissertation: "Petroglyphs of Kazakhstan as historical source" (2010).
Research interests: archeology, history, art and culture of Kazakhstan and Central Asia in ancient times and the Middle Ages.
1970-1980 - History teacher;
1980-1991 – Ch. Valikhanov Institute of History, Archeology and Ethnography. (laboratory assistant, junior researcher, researcher, senior researcher, Head of the Department);
1991-2010 – A.H. Margulan Institute of Archaeology (senior researcher, leading researcher, major researcher, Head of the Department);
2010-2012 - Director of the Science Committeeof the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan at the branch of A.H. Margulan Institute of Archaeology, Astana;
since 2012 to the present - Advisor on scientific-organizational activities.
Scientific and organizational activities: head of the Department of Prehistoric Archeology of Ch. Valikhanov Institute of History, Archeology and Ethnography (1988-1991); Head of the Department for Study of Early Iron Age monuments and prehistoric art (1991-2009).
Member of Editorial Board of the State strategic program "Cultural heritage" and magazine "Қazaқ tarihy".
since 1967 to the present - Head of numerous expeditions:
1988 - Head of the West Kazakhstan archaeological expedition; 1997 - Head of the East Kazakhstan AH K.H. Margulan archaeological expedition Institute of Archaeology of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan; 2009 - Head of the International Kazakh-Mongolian historical and cultural expedition (Mongolia).
Membership in scientific organizations: Corresponding Member of the German Archaeological Institute.
Honours: Honoured Worker of Labour of Kazakhstan (2001). Winner of the national independent award "Platinum Tarlan" (2001). The prize was awarded for the discovery of the phenomenon of Berel and molecular-biological and historical studies of this discovery. Author of over 205 scientific publications.
